The Altiplano project is expanding

Previously launched in June 2011 in partnership with the HUG (Geneva University Hospitals) and the RAFT telemedicine network, a second trip was organised, in April 2012, to the Bolivian Altiplano to monitor the progress of this project.

Four new health centers – Potosi, Colcha-K, and Llica Uyuni – have been equipped with ultrasound and electrocardiogram equipment. Cameras have been provided to start a teledermatology program. Located in the Salar de Uyuni region, these sites are now connected to the internet, enabling them to access the expertise of larger, better equipped hospitals. Piaget also helped organize the first International Telemedicine Conference in Bolivia, which led to the creation of Sobotim, the Bolivian society for telemedicine and healthcare informatics.
